DVLA Process

> The Risk of not following the correct DVLA process when disposing of your vehicle.

It is very important when passing ownership of your vehicle to a 3rd party, to ensure you follow the correct DVLA process. Otherwise, you will remain liable for the vehicle even when it is out of your hands.

Some less scrupulous vehicle disposal companies will abuse the system and may use your vehicle once you have passed it to them – resulting in fines that you can be liable to pay unless you are able to prove that you have passed ownership of your vehicle. eg. parking fines, speeding fines etc…

From the DVLA website :

“You must notify the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) immediately of the exact date of sale or transfer of your vehicle using the registration document or certificate. You and the buyer should follow the procedures correctly or you will remain liable for the vehicle until DVLA records have been updated.”

> Scrapacarlondon help you with the DVLA process for your peace of mind.

We help to advise you on the DVLA process you should follow when disposing of your vehicle.

- You must notify the DVLA immediately using the specified section of the registration document or certificate.

- Alternatively you can write to the DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1AR to inform them that you no longer have the vehicle

- It is also advised by the DVLA that you should also keep a separate note of the buyer’s name and address details (see contact us page).
